Jumbo bags are widely used in Mining Industries, Cement Industries, Lime Industries, Grain Industries, Fertilizer Industries, Bulk handling of any dry goods by Logistic Companies.

Jumbo bags are very versatile and provide safe and cost-efficient systems for handling, storage and transportation of bulk material in powder, granular, pellet or flake form Under UN chapter 16 the bags can be used even for handling hazardous cargo.

a.Filling

• Do not twist lifting loops, keep them vertical.
• Fill under slight tension by keeping the base suspended 6 cms above the base support plate.
• It is essential to use a base plate when filling with outlet spouts and or liners.
• The bottom spout must be secure before the filling operations begin.
• It is essential to inflate polythene liners before filling the material Liners should project about 15 cms above the bag for ease of tying or cuffing.
• Before closing the top end ( spout) ensure to allow time for material to settle down for proper stability of bag.
• Swan neck fashion is ideal for tying spout and the liner

b.Handling

• To ensures a square shape of the jumbo bag which is good for stacking if possible, drop the loops sideways rather then letting them remain at top.
• Forklift tines should be smooth, rough or sharp edges of tines can damage the lifting webbing.
• Use a polythene liner as a moisture barrier for hygroscopic material.

c.Vibration

• Establishing an optimum vibration cycle for each product.
• Do not vibrate excessively as it is unproductive.

d.Storage

• Can be stored 2 – 3 high for single stacking.
• For multiple stacking, pyramid method should be used, the bags can be stacked up to 7 high.

e.Vehicle Storage

• Lift the bag vertically from the quay and then vertically into the hold so that the bag strikes the sides of the vessel.
• This also avoids the hazard arising out of slack crane wire. Similar precautions should be taken in unloading operations.
• Avoid deck ships if possible. The bag should stand upright in the hold.
